History...

A small group of Filipino students,
assisted by Philippine consulate advisers and a German professor, decided to form an association with the end in view of representing and promoting the interest of Filipino students in Germany.

This group called a meeting on December 20, 1992, and formally launched the organization known as Philippine Students Association.

The members began calling it ...Philstud, to shorten the long name. Some of the drafted the Constitution and By-laws of Philstud in 1993, which was later approved by the body. During the same year, the association was registered at the Office of the President of the University of Hamburg as a non-profit organization.

Since its establishment, Philstud was able to carry its numerous scientific seminars as well as its culturally related activities. Most of the activities of Philstud during the year 1993 to 1996 were focused on establishing relations  with both Filipino and German students and scientists. Corollary to this, it provided a venue for members to present their particular academic pursuits through seminars and conference.
